Can I bring my pets?
Clarens is a dog friendly town (and horses and cats and many other creatures beside) but you should definitely check your host before hand, or contact editor@clarensnews.co.za for recommendations for pet friendly guesthouses.
What clothes should I pack?
Clarens has fairly extreme seasons. It is one the top snow destinations in winter, so be sure to bring wind breakers and woolies if you plan to visit between June and September.
Of course our summer days are gorgeous, and make sure to have a swimming costume to wear at the Conservancy Dam – a favourite among the locals.
Beyond that anything goes from ballgowns to off road boots!

Art galleries and trinket shops, precious stones and photography, fascinating people with hospitable Free State generosity, sun dappled courtyards with cheese tasting platters, a brewery and pub or two and so much more.
Clarens is also a fantastic Golf destination with a top quality 18 hole course stretching across, under the road and on to the Estate.
