Sculptor Nic Grobler will be exhibiting his work and message at the NG Kerk in Clarens this Easter Weekend.

SCULPTING WITH A MESSAGE
Dr Nic Grobler has been established as a sculptor for many years and his philosophy is to ‘portray a positive message through his sculptures.

Sculpting with a Message.
Many of his sculptures have Biblical connotations and themes. Classic examples are –
 The Lost Son returning to His Father
 Songs of praise and worship by Paul and Silas whilst they were locked up in prison
 The Hand with the Nail and other examples of note

Whilst studying Fine Art at Natal University, Dr Grobler switched his studies to Theology and obtained BA and B.Th. degrees at the University of Stellenbosch.
He continued with his studies at the University of Pretoria and completed his M.Div. and Doctorate in Theology. All along he kept on doing sculpture work and completed a course in ceramic sculpture.
Together with his wife, Marietjie, Nic served many communities and later progressed to become the head of Afrikaans programs on Radio Pulpit.
Nic and his wife have three wonderful married children and 6 grandchildren , and their overall creativity also knows no boundaries.
Through the years Nic has continued to sculpt and his client base has not only followed him but in addition subscribe to his creative philosophy of ‘portraying meaningful messages’ through his individual artistic pieces.
Both Nic and his clients like to feel that after people have viewed their purchased artwork pieces, that the future viewer will go away having something positive to think about.

Nic has been working on the theme ‘Hands that Talk/Hande wat Spreek’.
One piece of note is the sculpture of a hand holding on to the wrist of another smaller hand with the title ‘God is there when you lose your grip’.
Displayed in many corporate offices, doctors consulting rooms, private homes and study rooms, Nic’s creative work is visible both locally and internationally all portraying the common theme and
message of ‘Hope’.
One of Nic’s strong artistic talents is portrait work , and in this regard he was commissioned and completed a Portrait for a previous State President, Marais Viljoen , as well as Vice chancelor Dr J.S. Gericke
Naturally Nic has his favourite areas of interest which include animal studies and more specifically Eagles of which he has several past successful creations.
Nic also likes “Impressionistic Pieces” e.g. a Woman who runs to tell others of a discovery that she has made! The walk to Emmaus , and many others.
