Letter from the Clarens Ratepayers Association (March 2014)

Hi there

A few news items for you.

Thank you so much to our members who have renewed their membership and also to our new members.  Members who still have to renew, we appeal to you to do so as soon as possible, we need the money for the Conservancy. (See the Rangers’ Report attached).

 – Roads:  Those of you who live in the Village will have seen that the Municipality have begun work our roads, commencing with van Reenen and Le Roux Streets, with plans to do some of the other badly affected roads.  As we all know, it would take tons of gravel to fix the roads, which have been neglected now for 14 years or so, but let’s hope that this latest attempt will at least last through the next few rain storms.

 – Estate Members:  Members living on the Golf Estate, Mountain Estate and Mountain View Estate please note that in all communications with the Municipality you should quote your Erf (Stand) No. and not your Home Owners’ Association No. or Sectional Title No.;  by doing this you should receive prompt attention from the Municipality – they have no knowledge of the Home Owners’ No. their records reflect only the Erf No.

Attached is the January report from the CVC Rangers, which makes very interesting reading.  They are achieving great things with a tremendous amount of effort from them and some of our volunteers;  this, indeed, benefits all who live here and this is where the bulk of your membership fee is going, so please encourage others to join.

Figjam Entertainment (Pty) Ltd., plan to make a full length feature film in Clarens, full details of which are in the attachments – Adobe and Word – both contain the same information.  The production will be shot in Clarens commencing March 24 until April 7, which falls between the two long weekends.  Should you have any queries on this movie, please contact Bianca Isaac, the Producer (084 619 2639) or Tammy Hancock of the Clarens Tourism Forum (082 824 9365).

Also attached is a schedule of the planned events for 2014.  Please note that this may change from time to time.  This weekend we have the Beer Festival.

The GCCC was formed earlier in the year with Natalie Meyer (Clarens Breweries) Malcolm Hickman (Kalm Guesthouse and Kalmer) and Carl Swerts (The Gallery) being elected to the Board. The Chamber will be representing the businesses in Clarens/Kgubetswana.  We look forward to working with them to the benefit of all who live in Greater Clarens.  Should you need any further information, please contact the afore named Board members direct.
