Lesotho Highlands Water Project

The Lesotho Highlands Water Project and its construction in particular had a major influence on the development of Clarens. Not only did the Lesotho Highlands Water Project found Larola – the residential area bordering the Fouriesberg Road between the R712 and Kgubetswana township, but it provided impetus to the growth of Clarens by attracting visitors (originally construction workers and later tourists) to the town.
