Two years ago the Greater Clarens Chamber of Commerce (GCCC) was formed by Clarens businesspeople with the objective of representing and championing the constitutional rights and interests of all businesses in the greater Clarens area.
Since its inception this body has addressed several major issues on behalf of the business community including, business zoned property rates, village water, erf numbers vs street numbers and the National Liquor Act objections.
Earlier this year at the AGM the original board and committee was dissolved with only Mawela Mashinini standing for re-election.
We are pleased to announce that the GCCC now has the following local businesspeople to take it forward into 2017 and beyond:
Ray Meyers, Posthouse Restaurant – Chairman & Trustee of the Clarens Trust
Mawela Mashinini, Fairbrother Security & Tavern Owner – CCF Representative
Vanessa Knowles, Ashbrook Country Lodge – Treasurer & CCF Representative
John Nkhabu, Zama Zama Tavern – Tavern Owners Association Representative
Michael Kruyshaar, Fully Connected
And for those who find all the committees and forums confusing, here is how all the forums and committees fit and work together:
The Clarens Community Forum (CCF) was started last year as a platform for the five forums, serving the different interest groups within the village, to work together and communicate with each other regarding issues in, and plans for, the village. The forums represented on the CCF are the Clarens Ratepayers Association (CRA), the Clarens Village Conservancy (CVC), the Clarens Tourism Forum (CTF), the Sector Policing Forum (SPF) and the Greater Clarens Chamber of Commerce (GCCC). There are two representatives of each forum that sit on the CCF.
Thank you for your support of the GCCC from the outset and we as the new committee look forward to your continued support.
The Greater Clarens Chamber of Commerce Committee
