Golf courseHeinieken Open 20131206_104030[2]This weekend Clarens will be welcoming all those golfers (as well as their families and supporters) taking part in The Heineken Clarens Open.

THE CLARENS GOLF ESTATE has gradually been climbing the ladder toward becoming the premier golfing destination in the Free State. Recently the entire Golf Course was rejuvenated by re-seeding the entire course. Adding to the new turf they purchased three machines of the highest quality to further help improve the course to attain top national standards.

Golf course machinaryFrancois Schoeman, general manager, says: “Improving the course was priority, and to ensure its sustainability we cannot allow old machines to hold us back. These machines are the best the industry has to offer and we are proud to be able to supply our home owners, members and regular visitors with the best out there. These machines will ensure the long-term goal, offering the best facilities at reasonable prices.

Clubhouse food 2In the new year, there will also be significant specials on golf memberships and greatly reduced rates, says Schoeman.

“We are setting our sights on becoming the favourite golfing destination in the Free State.” To celebrate the years great achievement The Clarens Golf Estate is hosting a major tournament this week. The Heineken Clarens Open is co-hosted by The Free State Golf Union and sponsored by Heineken. This event is fully booked and a major event on all serious golfers calendars.

Players will be playing 54 holes of stroke play on the newly planted course. Playing 36 holes on Saturday the 6th of December and finishing with 18 holes Sunday the 7th. The clubhouse will also be showcasing its new menu’s and recently updated facilities.
