Clarens Ladies Friendship Club
The Friendship Club held its annual, end of the year breakfast last month at Mont d’Or, where we all enjoyed a wonderful breakfast, beautifully prepared and served. Our thanks to Tommy and his team for making this so special. At the breakfast, the ladies were advised that the funds derived from the sale of the Friendship Club Cookery Book, were to be handed over to Cluny Animal Trust and Paballo’s Home Care Nursing; two community organisations which have been operating for some time providing much needed services to the community. We would like to thank all the businesses who offered their support by selling the Cookery Book.
The Friendship Club has been in existence since the early 1970s and started off with a small group of residents meeting together in each other’s homes. Today it is a thriving gather of ladies who meet at 2.30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month, in the NGK Hall, Clarens, to catch up on events and listen to speakers on a number of diverse topics of interest to the community. The afternoon is rounded off with refreshments provided by members of the group. If you are a new comer to Clarens and would like to meet some locals, please come along. If you would like to give a talk to the Club, please contact either Pat Raubenheimer, Chairperson – 058 256 1123 or Daphne Scott, Secretary – 058 256 1044.
